It’s no wonder why surfing is one of the most popular activities in Costa Rica. With great waves for beginners all the up to the most seasoned pros, you’ll always be able to find the wave you want to ride. Water temperatures around 80* Fahrenheit or 26* Celsius make the ocean comfortable enough to stay in all day.
Our local instructors have years of experience in the area and will make your surf lessons both safe and exciting. Surfing Lessons begin with basic water safety information, how to paddle out, pop up, and stand, as well as ocean awareness. When you’re ready to get in the water your instructor will be with you to make sure you are safe and learning the best possible way. Start times vary due to changing tides and conditions.

Don’t hesitate, go try it out.
I can’t say enough about what a great job Durby did as my instructor. He was very helpful and patient. He taught me both the art and science of surfing. I wish I had booked another lesson with him the following Thursday.
So learn from my mistakes. Don’t try to surf on the northern part of the beach. It is too rocky. Go down to south beach area. The sand is much better there. Also, bring a synthetic T shirt to wear as rash guard. I didn’t understand what “rash guard’ was and now have scabs on my stomach. Durby fitted me with a longer, wider board. This is absolutely essential as a beginner. The narrower boards are much harder to use. Again, lesson learned.
I would definitely recommend Durby to be your instructor.
